Course: Foundations of Successful Communication Skills

(Focus: EIP/PRI/SEC/SPED)

If you are interested in optimising the communication skills programme for your child/student with autism, this may be right course for you.

Individuals with an Autism Spectrum Disorder or autism have to work hard to continuously engage in different forms of communication. Each individual with autism is different; and as such will require different levels of support. Understanding ‘What to teach’ and ‘How to teach’ communication to these individuals can seem like an overwhelming task.

Venue: Autism Resource Centre (Singapore) / Pathlight School
Pre-Requisite: None. However, would be useful for participants to have attended the Fundamentals of Autism workshop

For the following who are caring for young children (Pre-School/Primary/Secondary/SPED) with an Autism Spectrum Disorder:

Course Description

This training workshop aims to empower participants with the knowledge and skills to support the development of communication skills in their child/student with autism. Participants will also learn about the key elements that form the foundation of any communication intervention programme.

Based on our extensive experiences in working with individuals with autism, our expert consultant will share ‘real-life’ case examples to highlight the key elements and strategies of an effective and successful communication programme.


A variety of learning activities will encourage the participants’ self-reflection on how the information and key strategies presented can be applied to their own child/student in different environments, including in school and at home.

Objectives of The Course

Upon completion of the training workshop, participants will be able to:

better understand their role in developing communication skills programme for their child/student with autism

learn practical teaching strategies to make teaching communication more meaningful for their child/student with autism

learn when and how to apply teaching strategies for an effective and successful communication programme for their child/student with autism
